Gills v Port Vale Preview

GILLINGHAM V PORT VALE
Sky Bet League One
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Saturday November 29
Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Peter Taylor will welcome back Michael Doughty for the visit of Port Vale. The midfielder has served his one match ban following his sending off against Leyton Orient a fortnight ago.

Joe Martin serves the third of a three match ban following his red card at Crawley, so Adam Chicksen is likely to fill in again at left back.

Callum Davies, Matt Fish, Josh Hare and Devante McKain are all out on loan, however Max Ehmer and Harry Lennon both signed short term loan deals earlier in the week and are both available.

Aaron Morris (hamstring) will be out for at least another 10 days but Josh Pritchard and Amine Linganzi are both fit.

Doug Loft is set to Captain the side once more against his former club.

As for Vale they will be without midfielder Chris Lines who is suspended, while new signing Alex Nimely, formerly of Manchester City, is unlikely to be involved as he looks to build fitness.

Peter Taylor said: “They’ve had some good spells since Rob has taken over so they will be a hard team to beat and you’ll have to work extremely hard to match them in every way.

“However we are in good form ourselves and we need to make sure we take that out onto the pitch.”

Rob Page said: “Andy Hessenthaler was a great servant to Watford, a great player in his time and like I said I think he has been at Gillingham for a few years and he works hard for the club.

“It’s nice to catch up but then come three o’clock it will all be forgotten about until five o’clock.”

Previous Meetings:

The clubs have met on 45 previous occasions – both sides have 15 wins apiece, with the other 15 resulting in a draw.

Our most recent encounter was in February of this year when two goals from Bayo Akinfenwa and one from Cody McDonald, all assisted by Bradley Dack, were enough to seal an entertaining 3-2 win at Priestfield.

Betting:

Sky Bet make Gillingham the favourites to achieve maximum points with odds of 6/4, with Port Vale at 13/8. The draw is priced at 5/2.

Danny Kedwell is 5/1 to score first, while Jermaine McGlashan is 11/1 to net the opener.

Special Bet: Doug Loft to score first in a 3-1 Gillingham win – 145/1.
