Gills new manager Mark Bonner says he wants to produce a team that the supporters will be proud of.

MARK BONNER NAMED GILLS MANAGER

Speaking to the club website he said: “I'm delighted to be here and looking forward to getting started. What is it you look for in a job?

“I think, one, is you want the opportunity. You want to work with good people. I am really impressed with the people that I've met so far. And you want a club that's really ambitious and wants to grow together and learn and develop a winning football team.

“So I think our missions are aligned in that sense. I received a call late Monday evening last week and met on Tuesday with Brad, with Shannon, with Kenny and with Joe. And on the back of that meeting, they asked me to come and attend Priestfield last Friday and present to them.

“And then Monday afternoon, I heard that they'd like to offer me the job and Tuesday morning I'm here signing and getting everything sorted and off and running. So, yeah, I've been really impressed with the process, really impressed with the people that I've met.

“I love the vision for the Club. And it's a big Football Club.  I love seeing everything that's in operation and all the plans for the future. So I'm really excited to get started.”

Mark outlined what supporters can expect from his team:

“I guess what I want to see from my team is the same as what loads of people want to see,” he said. “I want to see a hard running team, a team with pace in it and an attacking team that out scores the opposition but is really hard to beat and never goes away in a game.

“We’ll try and give you a team that you love supporting and we’ll try and ultimately bring some success but, above all, when you leave here at five o’clock on a Saturday I want you to leave thinking you have seen a team you enjoyed watching and gave everything for you, for themselves and for each other.

“We are all determined to get to work on building a team that can be really competitive at the top end of the division.”
