EDINBURGH: "WE WANT TO BUILD ON BACK-TO-BACK HOME VICTORIES"

17 December 2016

Gills manager Justin Edinburgh speaks to the press ahead of Saturday's game against MK Dons at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

Justin Edinburgh has challenged his Gillingham side to build on their recent back-to-back home victories against Northampton Town and Rochdale when they take on MK Dons at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

The Gills are unbeaten in five games in ME7, and go into this weekend's game one place and two points above their opponents from Buckinghamshire. Saturday's game is our Christmas Special, and ticket prices for all stands start at £5 for this fixture.

Edinburgh on...MK Dons: “I went and watched them on Tuesday night [against Charlton in an FA Cup replay], which they won in extra-time. I can see certain changes in them since their new manager [Robbie Neilson] came in; they don’t play from the back so much, they don’t as many risks. It’s the same group of players, just with a different mindset. Teams always seem to get an immediate reaction from any change of manager and I expect them to be buoyed by two wins in a week."

“Take the Bolton result out of equation, we are not too far away [from the play-offs]. It’s good that after Monday, we don’t have to wait too long to play again. I think we’re showing good signs of progressing here at home, we’ve had some good results and performances here and we want to continue that kind of run.Edinburgh on…Gills form:

“We’re going into the Christmas period, and we’re looking forward to this busy period. There’s a really good chance to pick up points and move up the table.”

Edinburgh on…Saturday’s team selection: “ We’ve kept Chris Herd away, as he’s been ill and we don’t want to spread that through the camp. Darren Oldaker picked up a groin strain in the Kent Senior Cup game [against VCD], but he trained today, as did Billy Knott.

“The big plus right now is that we’re playing games and not picking up injuries.”
