EDINBURGH: "WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD"

Gills manager speaks to the press ahead of Boxing Day's away game against Peterborough United

Buoyed by back-to-back Sky Bet League One home wins against Rochdale and MK Dons, Gills manager Justin Edinburgh believes his side go into Monday's Sky Bet League One fixture away to promotion-chasing Peterborough United full of confidence.

The Gills moved back into the top half of the league following Saturday's win over MK, and are just six points off their Boxing Day opponents.

Edinburgh on...Peterborough United: "They're in good form, just as we are right now. They play the diamond formation, a bit like ourselves last year. We understand that system, so hopefully we can go and impose ourselves on them.

Edinburgh on...away victories: "Winning away from home isn't easy. We've been in good situations and delivered some good performances this year [on the road], but we've not been able to get across the line. I think it's been a case that we've been good in one half, and not the other, a few times this season. We've got to try to be a little bit more steely, we need to make sure we withstand any pressure from the home team, and be more determined away from home. We want to be harder to beat, and we're looking for the confidence to be able to do that."

Edinburgh on...team news: "I expect Stuart Nelson will be fit for the game, his ankle is fine after Saturday's game [against MK Dons]. He's in magnificent form right now. Josh Pask tore his hamstring in an under-23 game for West Ham, so he won't be available during the Christmas period. Bradley Garmston has been back to [the FA's HQ at] St. George's Park for an intense rehabilitation so he'll be out for the next few games. We think Chris Herd will come back into the squad, and Billy Knott's had an injection in his leg to try and help him back to fitness.
