Justin Edinburgh’s team travel to the Highbury Stadium face Fleetwood on Saturday in Sky Bet League One.

Captain Josh Wright and defender Deji Oshilaja will be available for Gillingham after missing last Saturday’s Charlton match through suspension. 

Edinburgh has confirmed that goalkeeper Jonathan Bond will not be available for the game, after coming off injured at the weekend, while Ryan Jackson and Scott Wagstaff will face late fitness tests before travelling to the North West. 

Last season, the Gills were 2-0 down at Highbury within nine minutes, and Edinburgh has stated the importance of being on the ball from the first whistle. 

He said: “They're a pressing side; Uwe [Rösler, Fleetwood manager] likes his teams to do that. So we’ll have to move the ball quickly. It’s a tight pitch up there, it'll probably be a frantic start, and we know we have to be on our game.”

The manager praised his side’s performances over the past few games, and believes that a win is only a matter of time away.

“Once we get that elusive win, I have no doubt this group will go on a good run,” he added.

Uwe Rosler’s Fleetwood sit in 13th place in the Sky Bet League One table, two points ahead of the Gills.

After a great start to the campaign, Fleetwood tailed off through September but have begun picking up results again over the past month, beating Chesterfield and Peterborough and drawing with high-flying Sheffield United.

Town have scored in all but one of their games this season in all competitions, and that blank came in the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Oldham earlier in the month. 

Full-back Michael Duckworth is the Cod Army’s only absentee for the Gillingham clash, and Rosler has hinted at giving summer signing Cian Bolger his first start on Saturday.

Fleetwood started the season playing a 4-3-3 formation, but have switched to 4-4-2 over the past few games; however, Rosler said he may revert to his preferred formation for the visit of the Gills. 

The last meeting between the two clubs came at the Highbury Stadium back in March, when Fleetwood ran out 2-1 winners. 

The Cod Army scored two goals goals in the opening nine minutes, with Wes Burns and Shola Ameobi finding the net. Gillingham fought back and grabbed a consolation through Luke Norris, but headed back to Kent with zero points to show for their efforts. 

The teams have met only six times in total, with the Gills winning one, drawing two and losing three.
