PENNOCK: “IT IS A GOOD POINT”

8 April 2017

Head coach Ady Pennock spoke to the press following his side's 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday.

Gills head coach Ady Pennock believes that the 1-1 draw against Millwall on Saturday was very much a point gained rather than two dropped.

Joe Quigley opened the scoring on 67 minutes with his first goal for the club, before Lions’ captain Steve Morison equalised just five minutes later to ensure both teams left with a share of the spoils.

Pennock on… the result: “I am happy with the point. We wanted three, but we were up against a very good side. I have to give credit to all the players, they put a good shift in today.

“I also want to give credit to the crowd because they showed up and showed their support for the boys, but I also want them [both players and fans] to turn up against Bristol Rovers on Friday.

“We have to play like that every week for the remainder of the season, we know that. We have showed that against the higher teams we can match them. There was some really strong performances today.”

Pennock on… the performance: “Since I have been here, it is the first time that we put them under constant pressure. We had five or six corners in the first half, maybe more than that. They were good corners and we put them under pressure.

“We changed things throughout the game, and I was pleased overall.”

Pennock on… Tomas Holy: “He is a good ‘keeper. He is a young lad and will have a big future. He fully deserves all the credit.

“He is still learning his trade, but he has very good tools. He will make mistakes, but it shows what sort of talent he has because he put that to one side today and played very well.”
