A statement from Gillingham Football Club

Gillingham FC Chairman Paul Scally would like to place on record his concern and disgust with the methods being adopted by those acting for a local publication associated with the Kent On Sunday group. The Chairman has made representations to the paper’s Editor expressing the club’s concerns at their line of research which relates to the Mark McCammon tribunal hearing.

The club would also like to apologise to those sponsors that have received unsolicited approaches from this paper or any of their journalists.

As outlined in our previous statement the club are unable to make further comment on the case at this stage, not because the club have nothing to say, in fact quite the contrary, but because the matter has not run its full course, and it would be premature and unwise for the club to release any further comment until that stage has been reached.

The Chairman would like to thank the Kent Messenger Group and the other local media agencies that have taken a more realistic and balanced stance on the whole matter.

We would also like to thank all of our supporters and sponsors that have taken an equally realistic view of the situation.

As a result of their actions the club has terminated, forthwith, its relationship with the Kent On Sunday group.
