TAYLOR PREVIEWS BRADFORD

Peter Taylor looks ahead to Saturday's game against Bradford at Valley Parade

Peter Taylor says nothing should take his players by surprise when they visit Valley Parade tomorrow to take on Bradford City.

The Gills are looking for their third straight victory following wins over Crawley and Leyton Orient, but Taylor knows his squad must start strongly.

Speaking to Gills Player he said: “It’s always a great atmosphere there – a terrific stadium, 12,000 people at least make themselves known so it’s a good noisy Football ground.

“They normally start very well at home so you have to be prepared to match them in every way, and we will be.

“They will be strong and confident following their win last week at Preston away. They will be pleased with themselves but we’ve got to match them – nothing should take the players by surprise, we’ve got to be up for it.”

Michael Doughty and Joe Martin are both suspended for the game, but the Manager believes their absence will provide others with a chance to prove their worth.

He added: “I’m disappointed not to have Michael Doughty and Joe Martin because they are good players, left footed and help the balance of the team. We’ve got Adam Chicksen which helps the Joe situation but we will miss Michael a bit - however that will give other players the opportunity.”

As for Callum Davies, Amine Linganzi and Josh Pritchard Peter provided a brief update on their condition.

“They are all fit, whether we take them all I don’t know,” he said. “Josh Pritchard and Callum have only just started training; Amine has had a bit longer and is closer than the other two.”

Peter spoke of his admiration for Bradford having managed the club for a year (2010-11) earlier in his career.

He added: “It was a season but it wasn’t from the start to the end, Stuart McCall left and they needed somebody to come in and hopefully steady the ship because they were pretty low in the division.

“I went in and to be fair we did very well and finished the season very strongly and then everyone was expecting us to do very well the next year but unfortunately it didn’t happen, we had a lot of injuries and it just didn’t work out.

“As much as I was frustrated that it didn’t work out it’s a terrific Football Club and you can see them kicking on again and hopefully one day they get back to the top division because their supporters certainly deserve that.”
