GILLINGHAM CLINCH DANNY GALBRAITH SIGNING

11 December 2014

Gillingham have bolstered their squad with the capture of former Hibs winger Danny Galbraith

Gillingham have completed the signing of free agent Danny Galbraith until the end of the season.

The winger, 24, has been training with the squad for the last two weeks but has now agreed a short term deal.

Danny is a naturally left footed player; however he can play on either wing and as a centre forward. He began his career in the youth ranks at Scottish side Hearts before being snapped up by Premier League giants Manchester United in 2006.

However injuries prevented him from becoming a first team squad member on a regular basis with ankle, knee and groin issues side-lining him for 10 months at one stage before departing Old Trafford to return to Scotland with Hibs.

He initially signed a two year contract at Easter Road, but this was extended in February 2011 by a further 18 months. However injury would again plague the forward and he was released from his contract in January 2013.

He wasn’t out of the game for long though, signing for Irish side Limerick just a month later on a two-year deal.

On capturing his signature Manager Peter Taylor said:

"We've had a good look at him, he's a left winger that can play on both sides and has good experience.

"He started at Manchester United and played in the FA Youth Cup against Arsenal when there was a record attendance. I think Gavin Hoyte played for Arsenal that day.

"Danny has come here on a contract until the end of the season and he knows it's an opportunity for him to come and show what he can do.

"We are pleased to have him, he's a good lad.

"I may take him to Doncaster, he's a handy substitute and a clever footballer."
