GILLINGHAM V LUTON
Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Second Round
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Tuesday October 6
Kick-Off, 745

Team News:

Deji Oshilaja (knee) and Doug Loft (Achilles) will both miss the game due to injury. Oshilaja is being assessed by both Gillingham and Cardiff medical teams but will be out for a few weeks.

Loft was substituted at half time on Saturday after his injury, initially picked up in pre-season, reoccurred.

Harry Lennon, Emmanuel Osadebe, Glenn Morris, Jake Hessenthaler, Jermaine McGlashan and Ben Williamson could all feature.

As for Luton their only definite absentee is Craig Mackail-Smith who suffered injury at the weekend. Elliott Justham could start between the sticks with Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Magnus Okuonghae both pushing for starting positions.

Manager Comments:

Justin Edinburgh – “There will be changes and that is not weakening us, that will make us stronger, because that will see us have players that have a hunger and a freshness to come in and play."

Hakan Hayrettin (Luton Coach):  “We actually believe whoever we’re playing against we can win. The staff have drummed that into the players, the gaffer is at the forefront of that and he leads that. He makes everyone believe that whoever we play we can beat them."

Previous Meetings:

The clubs haven’t met in a competitive fixture since March 3 2009 when a 0-0 draw was played out at Kenilworth Road.

The reverse fixture saw the Hatters register a 1-0 win at Priestfield thanks to a third minute goal form former Chelsea forward Sam Parkin.

Last five results:

Luton 0-0 Gillingham – March 3, 2009
Gillingham 0-1 Luton – August 16, 2008
Gillingham 2-1 Luton – April 1, 2008
Gillingham 4-3 Luton – October 9, 2007
Luton 3-1 Gillingham – August 25, 2007

In total the clubs have met on 58 occasions, Luton boss the head to head statistics with 28 victories to Gillingham's 17. The other 13 matches have resulted in a draw.
