GILLS KICK START GILLINGHAM YOUNGSTERS

28 July 2014

Gillingham FC have launched a new programme to give youngsters the chance to work with the club's coaches and offer new opportunities

The Gillingham FC Community Trust have launched a new programme in partnership with the Kent Peoples Trust and the Medway Youth Service, which aims to give the young people of North Gillingham opportunities to take part, learn new skills and develop new relationships.

The FREE sessions will be held at the Gillingham FC training ground on Thursday evenings between 5pm and 7pm, and are open to young people aged 12-16.

A difficult and deprived ward within Medway, this programme is targeted specifically at the North Gillingham region, and is designed to give these youngsters an opportunity they may not usually be able to take.

It is also a fantastic way for them to meet new people and break down potential barriers.

Phil Carey from the Medway Youth Service commented: “Gills Kick Start is a great way to get out, get active and meet the Gills coaches at their training ground.

"Medway Youth Service is committed to seeing Gillingham Football Club's Community Trust flourish and succeed with the most hardest to reach young people in the area.

"This in turn will benefit both organisations as we endeavour to deliver a service that meets the needs of the communities we encounter.

"Gills Kick Start is a great way of impacting the community and for Gillingham FC to open its doors to the people of Medway.”
