GILLINGHAM FC V CRAWLEY TOWN: MATCH PREVIEW

24 October 2014

We look ahead to Saturday's game at MEMS Priestfield Stadium between Gillingham and Crawley

GILLINGHAM V CRAWLEY
Sky Bet League One
Saturday October 25
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Peter Taylor could include new signing Michael Doughty in his first XI for the visit of the Red Devils. The midfielder, on loan from QPR, joined on a one month loan deal on Friday morning but is fit if called upon.

Aaron Morris (hamstring) will definitely miss out along with Amine Linganzi, while Josh Pritchard may have recovered in time following a hamstring strain.

Doug Loft serves his final match of a three game suspension.

Crawley have Keith Keane back after suspension ruled him out of the 1-0 midweek win over Walsall.

Manager John Gregory has a virtually full-strength squad available with only Ryan Dickson likely to miss out with a knee problem.

Manager Comments:

Peter Taylor has watched the opposition in action for himself recently and is aware of the threat Crawley will pose on Saturday. However he believes the performance against Preston should give the players and fans reason to feel optimistic.

He said: “Like every game in League One it will be tough but if we can perform the way we did for an hour on Tuesday we’ll give ourselves a good chance.

“I’ve said to the players make sure we prepare right, start well, compete and take the good things of Crawley on board and nothing should take us by surprise.”

John Gregory added: "They have a hugely experienced manager in Peter and at home they are hard to beat. They lost to Preston on Tuesday but the reports suggest they played well and were unlucky.

They will be looking to bounce back and I expect a very tough game as always at Gillingham."

Betting:

The bookies are finding it difficult to separate the two teams with Gillingham given odds of 7/5 to clinch all three points. Crawley are priced at 15/8 with a draw at 23/10.

Danny Kedwell is 5/1 to score first, while a brace for Cody McDonald will get you odds of 8/1.

Special Bet: Jermaine McGlashan to score first in a 2-0 home win – 55/1.
