DANNY KEDWELL SIGNS TWO YEAR CONTRACT

12 May 2014

Danny Kedwell extends his stay at Priestfield after signing new two year deal

Danny Kedwell has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at Gillingham until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The striker, who joined the club from AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2011, signed an initial three year contract and was top scorer in his first two years at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

He was an integral part of the side that clinched promotion during the 2012/13 campaign, and begun last season in decent form after scoring 10 goals in the club's first 21 matches.

However in December he suffered a hernia injury and was forced to undergo an operation at the turn of the year which kept him out of action for five weeks.

On his return however he damaged knee ligaments in bizarre fashion after falling awkwardly during a development fixture which delayed his first team comeback.

He eventually did return, coming on as a sub in the Gills final two home matches of the campaign against Tranmere and Shrewsbury.

In total he has netted 40 goals in 118 matches in all competitions.

An exclusive interview with Danny will appear on the website shortly.
