Les Ireland passed away on April 1
Former team-mates and colleagues are invited to a memorial service for ex-Gill Les Ireland, who died on April 1 aged 63.Ireland played for the club’s youth team between 1969 and 1971 before joining Ashford.
His fondness for the Gills remained throughout, and having relocated to Yorkshire around 15 years ago, Ireland had planned to support the club against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on April 9 before his untimely passing.
The memorial service will take place at St John the Baptist Church in Bredgar (postcode: ME9 8EY) on Wednesday, June 22 at 11am.
