OLDHAM V GILLINGHAM FC: MATCH PREVIEW

12 September 2014

We look ahead to Saturday's Sky Bet League One match between Oldham and Gillingham at Boundary Park

OLDHAM V GILLINGHAM
Boundary Park
Sky Bet League One
Saturday September 13
Kick-Off, 3pm

Team News:

Peter Taylor has revealed that Danny Kedwell could play `some part` in Saturday’s game, the striker has been suffering with a knee problem which is continuing to be monitored.

Doug Loft could be named in the squad following his Achilles issue, while Amine Linganzi is now fit following a hamstring strain.

As for Oldham they have rated Jonathan Forte’s probability to play as 50/50 following an injury; however defender Adam Lockwood is definitely out for at least another few weeks.

Manager Comments:

Peter Taylor has had a free week to prepare his players and said on Thursday he was confident of the players getting a positive result.

He said: “They have players in good form and we have to be careful on that but I look at it as a typical League One fixture where we can go out and win the match.

“I believe we can go up there and win and that’s certainly how we are preparing.”

Lee Johnson told Oldham’s official website: “I've seen them play Yeovil twice this season and they've won both of their games. They are a good team and they are going to be a tough team to break down."

Previous Meetings:

The last time the two clubs met was at Boundary Park in February where Gillingham were desperately unlucky not to get anything following a 1-0 defeat.

Gary Harkins got the goal after 33 minutes and although Gills had a lot of the play in the second half they were unable to find a way through.

Earlier in the 13/14 season and the Latics emerged from Priestfield with another 1-0 win, this time the goal coming from Michael Petrasso in the first half.

In total the clubs have met on 41 occasions – of those Oldham have won 21 fixtures, Gills have 16 wins to their name and the other four matches have been draws.

Betting:

Sky Bet, the title sponsor of the Football League, have made Oldham the favourites to win the match with odds of 10/11. Gillingham are 14/5 to claim maximum points while a draw is priced at 13/5.

Bradley Dack to score first has odds of 14/1, while Cody McDonald has a price of 12/1 to find the net twice.

Special Bet: Brennan Dickenson to score first and Gills win 3-2: 375/1!
