WOMEN AND GIRLS UPDATE 28

22 April 2016

Weekly update of what has been happening at the club this week....

GILLS LADIES LOSE TO A RESILIENT CAMBRIDGE TEAM

Gillingham Ladies welcomed Cambridge Utd LFC to Chatham Town FC in the FA Women’s Premier League on Sunday, April 17. Manager Jack Wheeler made two changes with Ashleigh Loosemore and Shannon Redhouse returning to the starting lineup.

Gills Ladies started the game brightly with chances for Kallie Balfour in the opening minutes, Cambridge defended resiliently throughout the match and were mainly playing on the counter attack. Gillingham had chances to take the lead but it was Cambridge that scored from a corner mid-way through the second half. Gills Ladies dominated possession in the last quarter of the match but were unable to find the equaliser and the game ended 1-0 to Cambridge Utd LFC.

Gills Ladies next welcome Ipswich LFC in the FA Women’s Premier League on Sunday, April 24. Good luck girls.

Next week the Community Trust coaches will be out and about at local Primary Schools delivering Girls Only taster sessions to promote and increase participation. Our Girls Academy will also be taking part in a Football Festival taking place at AFC Wimbledon.
