Josh Maughan from Gillingham's Centre of Excellence has just been selected for the Welsh national squad that will be playing games against Belgium and Switzerland in Berne during April.

Left back or centre back Josh has come through two rigorous training camps to take his place in the squad which will be the basis for the Welsh FA's Victory Shield squad for next season.

Centre of Excellence Manager Bryan Bull comments that he is "Delighted by the news. Not just for Josh and his family but also for his team mates and the rest of the boys in the Centre of Excellence."

He added, "I believe this is a reward not just for Josh, and all the hard work and commitment he has shown in his time with us, but also for the other players in his age group. Their quality has unquestionably given Josh the platform to improve his technical ability to go along with his undoubted athleticism. It is also a boost for our entire program, as it shows what can be achieved with the right level of ability and attitude, what ever club you may be with."
