More than 150 people packed into the Great Hall at Priestfield on Thursday night to take part in the club's Winter Blues Quiz Night.
Twenty-six teams - including one skippered by manager Andy Hessenthaler - entered the quiz, which tested their knowledge of TV, Music, Film, Sport, Football and the Gills, as well the traditional picture round.
Hess was joined by first-team coach Nicky Southall, former Gills Alan Walker and Mark Patterson as well as current first-team players Adam Birchall and Danny Spiller, but his team were unable to come out on top in the quiz.
Each table was given the chance to ask the gaffer a question at a mock press conference, where he revealed his admiration for Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, and that Southall, Simon King and Spiller are the people in the dressing room who spend the most on their appearances.
He named John Hodge as the best impact sub he has seen in his time at MEMS Priestfield, and former Wales captain Peter Nicholas as the best player he played alongside.
And the final part of the night saw "Challenge Andy", where the gaffer took on each other team captain in a bucking bronco challenge.

Hess lasted 29 seconds, and that was only bettered by two other teams, the winner - from the team 'The Simple Six' - managing 32 seconds on the bronco, which was supplied by www.partyfunhire.com.
The quiz itself was won by Juventos, with an impressive 58 out of 70, winning by two points from two other teams.
Events manager Paul Rogers said: "The Winter Blues Quiz Night was the first event of a busy 2012 here at MEMS Priestfield and it was a resounding success.
"We will try and get another Quiz Night in before the end of the season, but in the meantime we have plenty of other exciting events over the coming months, from comedy nights and murder mysterys to sportsman's dinners and tribute acts.
"This strong programme of events puts us well on the way to putting MEMS Priestfield back on the map as the number one venue in Kent."
