Gillingham First-Team Coach Iffy Onuora is delighted to obtain his UEFA Pro Licence.
The former striker, who came back to the KRBS Priestfield Stadium in June as part of the club's coaching staff, has spent the last year working on obtaining European football's top qualifcation.
Talking to TheFA.com after receiving his award, Onuora said: "I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy. I spent most of the year out of work, so it was a good chance for me to stay in touch with everyone through this course.
"There's different elements to it, and it's always thought provoking and stimulating. At some point every aspect of everyone's job has been relevant. Someone like Steve Rutter with his FA hat on will obviously have relevant things to say about tournament football that a club manager might not have dealt with. Someone with the youth hat on will have something different to offer in discussion. So at some point you touch on all those experiences and I'm far richer for that."
Gills Manager Ronnie Jepson also has the UEFA Pro Licence and Onuora admitted to taking advice from those more experienced than him in the coaching side: "Most of the coaches on this course have far more experience than me, so I've come in with my eyes open and I've been listening to what those guys have to say about certain situations. It's been great for me.
"The game changes so quickly, so when we started the course a year ago some people were in work, some weren't and that has changed throughout the year. If we were to come together again as a group in the future it would be interesting to see where everyone is in football as much as anything.
"Until you meet people in person they're just a name, but coming here I've been fortunate to interact with so many people who work at a high level in football. It's invaluable to be able to phone someone for advice, knowing them and being able to speak to them about anything."
