STIMSON ON LUTON TOWN
After yesterday's home defeat to Luton Town, Mark Stimson gave us his view on the game, "We hope Simeon Jackson, Mark McCammon, Gary Mulligan and the likes of Andrew Crofts or anybody else start scoring at the moment. It is a crazy situation. We have had decent opportunities to score goals recently and if you don't score goals, you don't win football matches."
"We had good opportunities to score against Luton. At the other end they put a good ball in our box in the first half and Sam Parkin, who is possibly one of the best strikers in the division, has put it away with great quality. That is why he is being paid such a good salary. He shouldn't be at this level. Financially, nobody can attract him away from that football club."
Stimson remains confident that goals will come soon, "We had a couple of opportunities in the first half; Jackson had a lob which was a bit too high and Tyrone Berry got in a good position but probably didn't make the right decision. McCammon had a good header which went wide and then Crofts had a free header from a corner which went over the bar. How that mad scramble in the second half stayed out, I don't know."
"The players are desperate to turn it around and they are probably wishing they had a game on Tuesday. We will work hard in the week, do forward drills, like we do every week, and the boys will hit the back of the net in training. It is a matter of one of them converting that into Darlington away next week and I am sure if we get one, we'll continue."
