STIMSON: IT'S NOT THE RESULT WE WANT
Speaking after the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie Mark Stimson gave his thoughts on the game, "It was a better performance but still not the result that we want. As a manager you want the best of both worlds; you want to win and play well. Against Colchester, we did a lot better than Saturday but still didn't get that win that I want. There is still work to be done but if we can take positives from the game, it is that the performance was better. There was some good approach play with some good tempo but it was just that final ball. The final third is the key area of the pitch."
"There were a couple of changes to the team and those players did well. We played on the front foot, like we said we had to. There were a couple of opportunities that we didn't finish off and there were a couple of final passes that went a little bit astray. Andy Barcham got himself into a great position in the box and you're thinking "Go on, pull the trigger and have a shot" but he decided to pass it to somebody else."
"The first half was good but Colchester started the second half brighter and they were always going to be a threat. Unfortunately for us, it was a free kick. Was it a free kick? The cup game before against Colchester, I didn't think the free kick should've been given but this one looked a bit harsh. Full credit to Mark Yeates, he has got great delivery, and he has undone us again. That is a horrible blow to take."The Gills boss was sympathetic towards supporters frustrations, "I understand all the moans and groans. I expect to win every game at this level, if not, draw it. The fans probably expect the same. I did say at the beginning of the season that it will be three from about 12 or 14 teams that will go up automatically. Nine games into the season and we're ninth in the league. It's not the worst position, we could be in a better one, but we could be in a worse position. I think we have all got to stay focused on what we want to achieve. If we do that, it will happen, I have total belief in that.
"I've always been told that pressure comes from within so I'm not feeling any pressure. I've got no hair to lose and I cannot go grey! I know what I have set out to do and I am going to try and do that to the best of my ability. That will not change."
