RIMMEL ON TARGET FOR GRENADA

Posted on: Thu 02 Jul 2009

Youth team full-back Rimmel Daniel marked his first senior start for Grenada with a goal as the Spice Boyz drew 2-2 with Antigua in their final Gold Cup warm up match.

Rimmel was a second half substitute for Grenada but found the net just two minutes after arriving on the field, slotting home from six yards in the 77th minute to give his side a 2-1 lead.

Sadly the Spice Boyz were unable to maintain their advantage and a late goalkeeping error by Desmond Munro allowed the Antiguans to level the scores.

Daniel and the Grenadans will now travel to the United States where they begin their Gold Cup Group B fixtures with a challenging tie against the hosts U.S.A. in Seattle on July 4th.

Next up for the Spice Boyz are Haiti in Washington on July 8th before they complete their group stage with a match against Honduras in Foxborough on July 11th.

Daniel, who completed his second year apprenticeship with the Gills in May, has been invited back for pre-season training once he returns from international duty in a bid to secure a professional contract.
