PERFECT START FOR JACKSON'S CANADA
Canada kicked off the Concacaf Gold Cup group stages last night with an unexpected 1-0 win over Jamaica.
Simeon had to settle for a place on the bench as the Canadians soaked up the early pressure from a strong Jamaican side featuring Stoke City's Ricardo Fuller in attack.
With the two sides locked in stalemate Jackson collected his third international cap in the 70th minute as the Canadians went in search of a breakthrough.
Sure enough it came five minutes later as defender Mike Klukowski sent a deep cross forward for Ali Gerba to volley home.
In the final minute of normal time Jackson had a chance to double the lead but after beating keeper Donovan Ricketts he placed his finish agonisingly wide.
Canada's next match is on Tuesday July 7th when they take on El Salvador.
