Simon King was the latest name added to Gillingham's growing injury list as he left the action on a stretcher at Hayes Lane
The match got off to a quiet start as both sides got the measure of their opponents. The visitors first opening took 10 minutes to arrive as Garry Richards connected with Chris Palmer's low corner but ballooned his effort over the bar.
Bromley's response was swift as ex-Gills youngster Ashley Carew fed Gareth Williams in the 13 minute but his low drive from the right of the area was inches wide of the far post.
Gillingham took the lead in rather fortunate circumstances, inevitably it was Simeon Jackson on his first start of pre-season that did the damage. He pounced on Mark Corneille's poor 23rd minute back pass and slotted into the corner beyond the flailing Williams.
By now the Gills were looking comfortable and keeper Williams was tested again soon after, tipping Chris Palmer's floating cross over the bar at full stretch.
In the 28th minute Jackson went close again after Fuller's lofted pass was headed on by Richards, Jackson chipped the oncoming keeper but his effort drifted over the bar.

At the other end Bromley forced a good save from Alan Julian, Gareth Williams played in Luke I'Anson but Julian reacted quickly to fist clear his rising drive.
Five minutes before the break the home side pressed forward again, Harrison Dunk curled a deep cross to the far post and Williams header back across goal was narrlowly wide.
HT 0-1
Six minutes into the second half Chris Palmer stirred the crowd with a rasping shot on the turn after making space on the edge of the box. Unfortunately for the summer singing it fizzed wide of the near post.
A host of sustitutions on the hour mark disrupted the sides but more worryingly for the Gills Simon King departed the field on a stretcher.
Bromley put the visitors back four under pressure again in the 66th minute Aaron Fray crossed from the right but the ball got stuck under Marcus Cassius and try as he might the pacey forward couldn't find a finish.
Five minutes later Cassius was wrestled to the ground on the edge of the area by Tom Wynter and Jacob Erskine shaved the bar with a fiercely struck free kick.
In the 75th minute the home side were awarded a penalty after John Nutter and Mark McCammon combined to take out Fray on the right side of the box. Referee Crouch pointed to the spot and Ashley Carew made no mistake with his finish.
The lead was short lived though as a keeper error presented Luis Cumbers with an open goal in 79th minute and the young striker hooked home unmarked into the empty net.

Bromley levelled again in the simplest fashion, keeper Williams long punt fell kindly for Cassius who beat swept his finish over Julian to square the scores.
In added time the Gills spurned a great chance after Mark Bentley stole possesion in the box, he teed up Cumbers but his strike was well saved.
Then in the closing seconds Bentley popped up to seal the win. McCammon found Rooney whose shot was blocked but rolled invitingly for Mark Bentley to crash in the winner.
