FRINGE TEAM FOR CONCORD FRIENDLY
With last week's injuries to Dennis Oli and Barry Fuller further stretching Andy Hessenthaler's playing resources, the Gills are likely to field an inexperienced line-up for tonight's night's pre-season friendly with Concord Rangers.
Hessy is expected to field a youthful starting XI which should also include a number of trialists, with the bulk of the Gills first team squad rested ahead of Thursday night's home fixture against Scottish giants Heart of Midlothian.
Concord Rangers
Founded in 1967, the Essex club have enjoyed tremendous success in the 40 years since beginning life as a boys' team in Canvey Island. After gaining entry to the Essex Senior League in 1991, they won the title three times and as a result gained promotion to the Ryman League Division One North in 2007/08.
After a season of consolidation, Concord won promotion once more last season, beating Enfield Town 2-1 in the Division One North Play-Off Final. This season will see the club compete in the Ryman Premier Division for the first time in their history.
The ambitious Canvey Islanders have made some impressive signings so far this summer, most notably former West Ham United and FC Ujpest midfielder Tony Stokes. He joins one-time Swindon and Margate forward Bertie Brayley and young Colchester striker Russell Malton who also joined the Thames Road outfit in recent weeks.
Thames Road
The Sat Nav postcode for Thames Road is SS8 0HH and the suggested journey time from Priestfield is approximately one hour and five minutes though supporters driving to the match should allow more time in case of delays at the Dartford Crossing.
Our recommended route is to leave the M25 at J30 and take the A13 for approx 14 miles. At the Sadlers Farm round-a-bout, join the A130 Canvey Road and follow that into 130 Long Road. After half a mile turn right into Thorney Bay Road, then soon after turn right again into Thames Road, the ground is a short way down on your left.
