Gillingham have been selected as one of eight teams in the Southern section of the draw to receive a bye to the second round of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The Gills join AFC Wimbledon, Aldershot Town, Charlton Athletic, Oxford United, Stevenage, Swindon Town and Yeovil as Southern clubs handed a bye to the Second Round.
The remaining sides AFC Bournemouth, Bristol Rovers, Cheltenham Town, Exeter City, Hereford United, Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Wycombe Wanderers in the Western section and Barnet, Brentford, Colchester United, Crawley Town, Dagenham & Redbridge, Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons and Southend United in the Eastern section will learn their First Round opposition when the draw is made, live on Sky Sports Soccer AM show later this month.
First Round ties will be played in the week commencing August 29th with the Gills entering the tournament in Round Two, ties to be played in the week commencing October 3rd.
