Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy admitted after the game that the Gills had handled the windy conditions at the club's new Globe Arena much better.

He said "The conditions were difficult and I have to say Gillingham handled them better than us.

"We were grateful to Barry Roche for making a host of fabulous saves once again but once we got ahead I thought we were going to win and I'm really disappointed that we didn't see things through again."
