YOUTH TEAM ENTERTAIN THE O's

Posted on: Fri 03 Sep 2010

Gillingham play Leyton Orient for the second time already this season as they begin their Football League Youth Alliance Cup Group 5 games at Beechings Cross on Saturday - kick-off 11am.

Head of Youth Darren Hare will be hoping for better than the disappointing 4-1 home defeat inflicted by the O's in the league on the opening day when Jack Evans scored a late consolation from the penalty spot.

Unfortunately its not good news on the injury front, Alex Brown remains sidelined and the following all failed fitness tests yesterday, Josh Hare (achilles), Nathan Nyafli (groin) and Jack Parter (dead leg). Jake Hessenthaler will also be missing this week with a sprained ankle.

To bolster his decimated squad, Darren has called up four players from the Under-16's Steven Butcher, Tom Hammond, Aaron Millbank and Chris Webber.

Last week the Gills gained their first victory of the season with a comfortable 4-2 home win against Brighton. Bradley Dack scored twice, Callum Davies and an own goal completed the scoring.
