Team News -
Andy Barcham will definitely miss the trip to Gigg Lane having suffered an ankle injury in the Johnstone Paints Trophy game on Tuesday, which saw him leaving Roots Hall on crutches. Another blow in midweek was that Cody McDonald was also forced to limp off. But while he hasn't trained since boss Andy Hessenthaler stated in his Thursday morning press conference that the striker will travel although his chances of playing are rated at 50/50. Goalkeeper Lance Cronin continues in place of the injured Alan Julian.
So far this season -
Bury have picked up five points from their opening four games of the season. They were beaten by Port Vale 1-0 on the opening day at Gigg Lane before winning 2-1 away themselves at League Two new boys Oxford United. Tom Lees and Ryan Lowe were on target at the Kassam Stadium.
Their two recent games have both ended 1-1. David Worrall was on target as the Shakers drew at home to Northampton then last Saturday Lowe was again the marksman as Alan Knill's team drew at Barnet.
We've met before -
Our last meetings with Bury came in the 2008-09 season when we met on three occassions. The first game was the FA Cup First Round tie at Gigg Lane when Andy Barcham earned the Gills victory with a 71st minute winner.
Just two weeks later Gillingham had to make the same long journey for the first league encounter. Unfortunately this time Alan Knill's side were up for the battle and they ran out easy 4-0 winners, Andy Bishop and Glyn Hurst netting two apiece.
The return league fixture here at Priestfield came just before the end of the season in April, the Gills were unable to breakdown a resolute Bury outfit and there was little excitement for the large crowd of 8,360 in a goalless draw.
