LONDON BRONCOS TO PLAY AT PRIESTFIELD

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

Gillingham Football Club is delighted to announce that MEMS Priestfield Stadium will be hosting a Stobart Super League game in May when the London Broncos take on Hull FC.

The Broncos - the south's only top-flight Rugby League club - will play at the stadium on Sunday May 20 2012 at 2pm.

The Broncos usually play their home games at the Twickenham Stoop, a ground they share with rugby union giants Harlequins - whose named they shared for five years until reverting back to the Broncos in November.

They are playing two games on the road in May, the first at Leyton Orient, before they head to MEMS Priestfield Stadium on May 20.

Gillingham FC's Commercial Director Steve Lowe said: "It's great to be working with the Broncos to bring another professional sport to Kent, particularly just as the football season will be drawing to a close.

"I hope that the people of Kent come out and support us bringing Super League rugby to the county.

"It should be a great sporting occasion and will showcase Rugby League to all those that follow it on TV, play it and read about it."

London Broncos Chief Executive Gus Mackay commented: "We are delighted to be playing this Stobart Super League match at Gillingham and are grateful to them for their support in laying on this fixture.

"This is an exciting opportunity to take the game to a new audience, meeting our strategic objective of growing the game across London and the South East.

"We very much hope the local community will come out in support of the event and we're already looking forward to the match."

Ticket details are still to be finalised and Mr Lowe added: "We will now be working with the Broncos team on the details and will announce ticketing, sponsorship and hospitality as soon as we can."
