Andy Pugh's late header was not enough to prevent the Gills from slipping to a 1-2 defeat against Joe Dunne's Colchester United in the Southern Area Final of the Youth Alliance Cup.

Colchester opened the scoring on 12 minutes through Anthony Wordsworth before Craig Hughes added a second on 52 minutes.

Andy Pugh gave Gills hope with a late header but time ran out as they searched for an equaliser.
