Chris Hope and Casey Stoney urge fans to support Powell's team

Priestfield will stage it's first ever Women's international when England take on Austria in a World Cup Qualifier on Thursday, 20th April and Hope is delighted England are coming to Priestfield, he said: "It is great. I watched their game against France the other night and I was well impressed.

"It was a good match . Although it was 0-0, it was very entertaining. They have got some great players. I, for one, will certainly be coming down here to watch the game. I think that any sort of international, whether it be mens, womens or even schoolboys football, to come to Priestfield, it is a feather in the football club's cap. It should be a great night.

"A couple of years ago we played the England Women's team in La Manga. It was a friendly game, off the cuff, that was good and very enjoyable. I think we won, just! There are some real talented girls out there. They were fantastic. They play to a high standard and I encourage people to come down to Priestfield as I think it will be a great game to watch.

"I've pretty much only ever seen them on TV, although there isn't too much TV coverage with women's football really. With me playing football at weekends, it is a bit difficult for me to see games. I have seen it in the past, and watched a few games last summer, which England played well in."

Hope teamed up with England and Charlton defender Casey Stoney as details for the match was announced, and Hope was full of respect for his fellow defender, he said: "Casey is a nice girl. I just had a chat with her and we were bouncing a few questions off of each other. She was asking what the club is like. She has done really well for herself at Charlton and they are one of the top teams. They are fighting for the League title, and I wish we were too!"
