Gillingham take on Stockport County at krbs Priestfield this weekend and winger Andy Barcham can't wait to get back into action, "We need to get some points on the board ourselves so you can't really look into form, whatever happens on the day happens on the day, you've just got to prepare right and hopefully we will get the win.
"Our home record is quite good. It's so weird what's been happening away, but I think whoever comes here obviously knows what we are capable of and we seem to play our best football here, so I think any team is going to see us as a threat."
The club's impressive home record has seen recent visitors to the Priestfield setting up with a defensive formation but Barcham is confident his team mates can cope with that challenge, "It does frustrate you at times when people come to defend because they put everyone behind the ball.
"Teams are going to do that when they see our home record and it's up to us to try and find a way to break them down. It can be hard to break down but you've just got to be patient. The Gaffer will work on that with us in training and we will maybe take our time but along as we get the win, at the end of the day, I think it doesn't matter how we play."
This Saturday will be the first of a trio of festive fixtures which sees the Gills take on sides around them in the lower half of the table and Barcham believes the results can have a major bearing on the team's season, "This mid part of the season is really important for us to pick up as many points as we can.
"It's not nice to be down there. If you get a win you start thinking we can push on now, and then if you get a loss you are down there again. So the more wins we get on the spin the better because then we can start pulling away from it."
Recent weeks have seen the Gills experiment with 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 formations and Barcham reveals he's happy however the team line-up, "It's whatever works on the day. When there are two people up front obviously, there's more people showing and you can see benefits from that formation.
"But when Simeon is up there on his own he works hard and gives it back to make angles. I'm still going to look to take on defenders and link off the front man so it doesn't really change the way I play to be fair."
Barcham has fond memories of Stockport having scored both goals in the FA Cup second round replay at Edgeley Park last season to set-up a glamorous Third Round clash with Aston Villa, "Last season I enjoyed playing against Stockport. It was a freezing day and I didn't feel the best but I came away scoring two goals so personally it felt good and it was also a good result for the team.
