Speaking after the 3-1 beating of Stockport County, leading striker Simeon Jackson praised the clubs supporters for their superb efforts to clear the pitch so that the game could go ahead, "We were really happy to get the game on and the effort from the fans and all the staff to get it on was just magnificent. We knew we had to get the result that we deserved for the fans for putting in the hard work to get the game on."

Jackson was reunited with loan signing Febian Brandy on Saturday and paid tribute to his lively new strike partner, "He is a threat that no defender really wants to play against. We try and feed him the ball as much as possible because you know that in and around the box he's going to create something. It's good to have that togetherness and we try and link up when we can.

Rumours this weekend have linked Jackson with a move to Q.P.R. but the Canadian international is keeping firmly focussed on his game, "The window doesn't open for another few weeks, I'm just going to get my head down and do what I've always done.

"There's been a lot of links over the weeks and we're getting close to that time so it will probably come again but I'm just concentrating on the next game. I've got a contract here for the season after this so I just want to keep trying to improve and work hard. I just take it one day at a time, one game at a time. I'm here and I'm going to be here until my contracts up."

This weekend saw a double celebration for Jackson who aside from helping the Gills to a much needed three points was named Canada's Player of the Year, "I'm honoured and thrilled. To be recognised by your country as Player of the Year, with all the competition and the level those players are playing at.

"I was very shocked. I didn't think I was even in the nominations really so to get that call and be recognised on that level is brilliant. I've just broken into the set up really. I got my first call this time last year and played in the Gold Cup this summer so it's my first real taste of it.

"I'm really excited and looking forward to my future at that level and it's always good to get away, play with your country and get your caps. I've just got to concentrate at club level and do what I need to do to keep in that frame. Some of the players that you play with at that level have more caps than I've played league games so it's good to play with them and learn from them as well."
