After a six week pursuit Gillingham have finally secured the return of fans favourite Danny Jackman from Northampton Town.

The versatile left sided midfielder/defender has put pen to paper on a three year deal, signing from the Cobblers for an undisclosed fee.

As we speak Danny is heading down the motorway and will play some part in this evening's Carling Cup tie with Blackburn Rovers if he arrives in time.

A delighted Mark Stimson confirmed this evening, "Danny will be a really good signing for us as I know he did well at the club before and the supporters appreciated his work ethic. Whenever he has played against a team of mine he has always stood out."

We've been working on the deal for a few weeks and as a natural left footer I believe Danny will bring good balance to the midfield. I look forward to working with him and I'm sure you'll enjoy welcoming him back in the blue and white of Gillingham tonight."
