FOOTBALL LEAGUE COMMUNITY CUP

Posted on: Tue 15 Dec 2009

Each season The Football League organises two cup competitions for junior footballers from schools across the country, with the finals being played at the home of English football in the build-up to some of the biggest matches of the domestic season.

The Football League Community Cup is a six-a-side competition for Under 11 school children culminating in three finals across the Coca-Cola Football League Play-Off weekend in May.

The Football League Girls Cup is for Under 13 teams and is played along similar lines, with a final played prior to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final in spring.

Each season more than 2,500 schools take part in the two competitions and now it's your chance for glory. Dates have been arranged for our annual Schools U-11 Community and U-13 Girls Cups.

The first round of the U13 Girls Cup will be held at our Beechings Cross training ground on Wednesday 9th December 2009 and the Community cup will be held at the same venue on Wednesday 10th February 2010.

Winning teams from both tournaments will go on to represent Gillingham FC in regional finals with a chance of progressing to Wembley.

If you think your school would be interested in entering a team in either competition then contact the Community Department for further details.
