Barry Fuller is a right sided defender, his preferred position is full-back although he can also operate in midfield if required.  He began his career as an apprentice with Charlton Athletic but made his league debut during a loan spell with Barnet in January 2006 where his team mates included current Gills Gaffer Andy Hessenthaler.

In July 2006 he signed for Stevenage Borough, working under former Gills manager Mark Stimson, whom he followed to Priestfield in January 2008, signing a two-year contract.  He made his Gills debut away at Tranmere Rovers on January 29th and went on to make a total of 10 appearances before a severe hand injury prematurely ended his season.

Fuller was one of the star performers for the Gills in 2008/09, the popular full back was handed the captain's arm band in October which proved to be a turning point in the club's fortunes.

Despite missing that season's FA Cup third round clash with Aston Villa through suspension and being hospitalised with pnuemonia, he recovered in time to lead the club to promotion and raise the League Two Play-Off Champions trophy at Wembley.

Once again, Barry was a consistent performer throughout the 2009/10 campaign and made his 100th first team appearance at the start of the 2010/11 season, though he has still to score in a Gillingham shirt.

He suffered his fair share of injuries again, missing a month after sustaining a broken arm against Leyton Orient in February. His season was sadly curtailed in April by a broken nose, following a clash of heads in the opening moments of the home match with Leeds, an injury that later required reconstructive surgery.

Out of contract after the departure of Mark Stimson, Fuller committed his future to Gillingham by signing a new two year deal which will keep him at Priestfield until the end of the 2011/12 season. He was a near ever present in 2010/11 playing a part in all but four league matches as the Gills narrowly missed out on a play-off finish.

Barry celebrated another milestone in his Gills career early in the 2011/12 campaign, his appearance at Southend United being his 150th for the club.
