Striker Andy Barcham became the third player to arrive this season on a loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur, before signing a permanent deal to the end of the season in January 2009.
The 22 year-old forward made his debut in the 1-0 home win over Port Vale earning the Man of the Match award for his performance and scored his first Gillingham goal in the 2-0 home win over Chester City.
His goals against Bury and Stockport County helped set up a glamorous FA Cup Third Round tie for the Gills against Aston Villa. While his tally of nine in all competitions made Andy the club's second highest leading scorer.
A fans favourite, Barcham was voted runner-up to Simon King in both the Player of the Year and Supporters Player of the Year awards. He further delighted supporters by signing a new two year contract with the club in July 2009
