Chatham born youth team graduate Connor Essam joined the club in January 2002 and progressed through the ranks of Gillingham's Centre of Excellence.
He captained the youth team and has been a regular in the reserves over the past couple of seasons and was awarded his first professional contract at the start of the 2010/11 season.
During this time he was loaned out to Bishop Stortford and Dover Athletic to gain valuable first team experience.
Connor signed a new one-year contract extension in May 2011 but despite having been on the bench a number of times this season he is still to make his first team debut, but has enjoyed a successful loan spell at Dartford.
