Chatham born second year apprentice Connor Essam joined the club in January 2002 and has progressed through the ranks of Gillingham's Centre of Excellence.
He is a regular starter for the Reserves, captain's the youth team and was an unused sub in Gillingham's 0-0 FA Cup second round draw with Stockport County.
Although still to make his first team debut, Connor was recently awarded his first professional contract for the 2010/11 season.
