GILLS RESERVES 4-1 LEYTON ORIENT
An experienced Gillingham side proved no match for Orient's youngsters as the home side ran out easy victors at krbs Priestfield.
After an even opening the home side spurned a golden opportunity to take the lead in the 10th minute as Yussuff's clever through ball sent Cumbers through one on one with the keeper only for the young striker to place his shot into the side-netting.
Two minutes later Adam Miller's glancing header from Jack Payne's deep left wing free-kick brought a good save from O's keeper Dan Bygrave.
Within moments Richard's long ball saw Erskine muscle past Samson King but his tame shot rolled harmlessly through to a grateful Bygrave.
Gillingham were awarded a penalty in the 25th minute as Cumbers raced onto a Miller through ball only to be upended by King. Jacob Erskine took the spot kick and dispatched a nonchalant finish into the bottom left corner.
Two minutes later the home side doubled their lead, Erskine's cross from the right was touched to the unmarked Luis Cumbers who rifled into the roof of the net from six yards out.
In the 32nd minute Garry Richards brought down Loick Pires as the O's forward bore down on goal, the ref pointed to the spot and Pires made no mistake from the spot.
Soon after Gillingham should have grabbed a third as Tom Wynter crossed from the left edge of the box, Fayed failed to make contact and Erskine blazed wide at the far post with the goal at his mercy.
On the stroke of half time Fayed fed Yussuff on the right hand touchline, he pulled back to Adam Miller but the midfielder dragged his low strike wide of the far post.
HT 2-1
Two minutes after the restart Miller's deft flick found Cumbers in the area, he stretched to make contact but his effort was easily gathered by keeper Bygrave.
In the 52nd minute Fry curled a cute ball into the box for Cumbers to slot home only to see the offside flag raised as the ball nestled in the bottom corner.
Shortly after the home side made amends as Adam Miller cut into the box and pulled back for Cumbers, his shot was blocked but the loose ball fell to Jack Payne who drilled a low strike into the far corner.
On 60 minutes Jacob Erskine claimed his second of the match and showed great individual skill to hold off Mabuyaku and cut into the box before tucking a cool finish into the back of the net.
Luis Cumbers probably should have bagged his second in the 71st minute after springing the offside trap to connect with Garry Richards deep punt, he drew the keeper on the left of goal but blazed over the crossbar.
