Our students are given the opportunity to study and train at Kent’s largest professional football club, with its state-of-the-art facilities.
Based at MEMS Priestfield Stadium our players study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport whilst developing as a footballer.
They have the opportunity to gain their Level 1 in Football Coaching along with accessing valuable experience with work placements at the club such as personal training, media and sports coaching.
We have close links with several local primary schools where we support after schools clubs and organising and delivering activities during the sports days and festivals.
The staff delivering the education are qualified subject specialist tutors and those who have not already achieved a 4/C+ grade at GCSE in English and mathematics, will receive specialist tuition to achieve these qualifications whilst at the Academy.
The provision consists of education every morning with training in the afternoons at the 1st team training ground, Beechings Cross, Gillingham apart from Wednesdays which is fixture day. The Academy compete in the National Football Youth League South Premier against clubs such as: AFC Bournemouth, Oxford United, Portsmouth FC and Norwich City. Every year we participate in the National leagues tournament at St Georges Park as well as visit and other national training complexes.
All coaches are UEFA qualified and ensure the provision offered enables players to follow the Gills pathway into the development squad and first team as well as gaining scholarships to America working in partnership with SRUSA Women's Soccer and PASS4Soccer.
