BT SPORT VISIT THE GILLS ACADEMY

12 May 2016

The TV cameras recently went behind the scenes at Gillingham FC's Academy

BT Sport’s flagship Saturday morning show Fletch & Sav recently went behind the scenes of Gillingham FC’s Academy.

The TV cameras visited the club last month, and the video segment was aired on the day of the Gills’ home game against Shrewsbury on April 23rd.

Fledgling talents Darren Oldaker and Bradley Stevenson featured, alongside Schoolboys Development Manager Bryan Bull and Development Coach Mark Patterson.

“I think Academies are important to all smaller clubs, not just in terms of ability to bring home-grown players through, but because they also have potential for additional revenue that can be reinvested in the club,” said Bull.

“We’re interested in any good player that comes our way, but we try and make it quite difficult to get in, and try and keep players in the programme as long as we can.”

Gills fans can view the video on the club's YouTube channel.
