11 January 2019

Focus returns to League 1 as Gills go in search of three important points.

BURTON ALBION V GILLINGHAM

Pirelli Stadium

Sky Bet League 1

Saturday January 12, 2019

Kick-off, 3pm.

Team News:

Max Ehmer (shoulder) is close to making a full recovery and could well travel to be part of the match squad. Barry Fuller is still a week away from being considered while Billy Bingham and Dean Parrett will be out for another 10-14 days.

Stephen Quinn (groin) is likely to be unavailable for Nigel Clough after missing the midweek defeat to Manchester City.

David Templeton missed training on Friday but should recover from a migraine, while defenders Jake Buxton and Ben Turner could be involved after suffering knocks during the week. Marvin Sordell is definitely out but defender Kyle McFadzean will be assessed after returning to training.

Manager Comments:

Nigel Clough - "We're not that many points above the relegation places, we want to try to establish ourselves in the top half in the next few weeks.”

Steve Lovell – “I know they’ve had good results, it’s one of those games where anything can happen and the team that makes the least amount of mistakes will win the game. Teams need to earn their goals and points against us.”

Previous Meetings:

The clubs met earlier this season at Priestfield where Gills sealed an impressive 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Luke O’Neill and Tom Eaves (2).

During the 2015/16 campaign Burton did the double over Gills, winning 3-0 at Priestfield prior to a 2-1 win at the Pirelli Stadium.

In total both teams have played 10 games against each other. Overall the Gills have a slightly better record with five wins to Burton’s four, and one draw in 2011.

Odds:

Burton win – 7/10

Draw – 13/5

Gills win – 18/5

Special Bet: Elliott List to score first and Gills to win 2-1 – 80/1.
