17 September 2019

Gills head to Bristol for Tuesday night's game at the Mem.

BRISTOL ROVERS v GILLINGHAM

The Memorial Ground

Sky Bet League 1

Tuesday September 17

Kick off, 7:45pm

Team News:

Gillingham travel to Bristol Rovers looking to extend their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League One to four games after beating Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday at Priestfield.

Gillingham boss Steve Evans will be pleased that the players who missed Saturday's win through a virus all trained on Monday and will be available on Tuesday evening. The Gills will be without Matty Willock; otherwise Evans will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Bristol Rovers come into this game on the back of a fine 1-0 away at Lincoln on Saturday. Graham Coughlan saw his side rise to 12th in the League One standings after the win and with a fully fit squad to choose from will be hoping they can maintain their form, which has seen them rise to the top half of the league standings.

Preview Comment:

Steve Evans: “Bristol Rovers have a very good Manager in Graham Coughlan and he has helped build a very good team.

"Any team that can go away to Lincoln City and win fairly comfortably deserves the highest level of respect from any team at any level in English football."

Bristol Rovers Coach Kevin Maher: “The players should be full of confidence. To go and get three points on the road is brilliant. We are looking forward to the game - it is going to be a tough one. We have a lot of areas still to work on, we know that, and there is plenty to improve on so we will keep doing that, but hopefully we go into the game with a bit of confidence and the fans will be on our side again I am sure.

"So let’s go and make it difficult for Gillingham."

Previous Meetings:

Gillingham travel to the Memorial Ground looking for a similar result to last year’s fixture where they grabbed a fine 2-1 away win. The home game at Priestfield didn’t go quite to plan as the Gills suffered a 1-0 defeat in March. Tuesday's game will be the 109th competitive game between these two sides with Gillingham winning 41 so far, drawing 20 and losing the remaining 47.

Odds:

Bristol Rovers win - 23/20

Draw - 23/10

Gillingham win – 9/4

Special Bet: Gillingham to win 2-1 – 11/1.
