Mehmet made over 130 league appearances for the Gills between 1983-86, and was still playing in the Kent League at the age of 40.

1984 - Adam Birchall

The striker signed for the Gills in July 2011 after impressing at Dover Athletic, but shortly after putting pen to paper he suffered a knee injury in a pre-season game against Welling.

He finally got to make his debut as a substitute against Bristol City in the Capital One Cup in August  and netted his first goal in the FA Cup tie against Scunthorpe United having returned from a loan spell at Dartford.

Adam celebrates his 28th birthday today.
