Martin on new signing Devante McKain
Good morning
We agreed yesterday afternoon with Maidenhead United to sign Devante McKain. Devante was recommended to me by Maidenhead United manager Johnson Hippolyte, the same man that recommended DJ Campbell to me.
It is a very small fee but if Devante does well for us then there will be further payments to be made. He has signed an 18 month contract but we have the option for a further season.
All our lads that have been out on loan have now been recalled and we have games lined up for the next six weeks, so we can watch the lads play on a regular basis.
All the lads have trained extremely hard and yesterday afternoon, even though we lost, it was a fantastic performance from Mark Patterson's squad.
The youth team players that have been playing in our reserves will now go back to the youth team with Darren Hare.
This is all part of a long term planning strategy worked out between John Schofield, Mark Patterson, Darren Hare and Andy Hessenthaler.
Going back to Devante, he is big. He is strong. He is quick. He heads it. He needs to improve technically but he has got priceless attributes for a young centre-back.
