BIRTHS...

1898 - Freddie Fox

The goalkeeper joined the Gills from Preston North End in August 1922 but had to wait until October before making his debut at Brighton & HA.

He went on to make 119 appearances for the club before making the short move to Millwall towards the end of the 1924-25 campaign just as he was selected to play for England against France in May 1925.

Freddie later went on to play for Halifax Town, Brentford and Truro City.


1967 - Richard Green

The Wolverhampton born defender came to Priestfield Stadium from Swindon Town in March 1992 and scored twice on his debut in a 3-2 win over Cardiff City at Ninian Park.

Richard, who had come through the ranks at Shrewsbury Town, went on to make 253 appearances for the Gills scoring 17 times.

After leaving Gillingham he played for Walsall, Rochdale and Northampton Town.
