1995 - Alex Watson at Hereford

BIRTHS...

1944 - Joe Jacques
Joe,born in Consett up in the North-East, had played for England Boys, Preston North End, Lincoln City, Darlington and Southend United before Gillingham boss Andy Nelson paid £5,000 for the naturally aggressive defender in November 1972 and he made his Gills debut in a 4-2 home win against Bradford City.
He was quickly named captain, succeeding Dave Quirke, and the following season (1973-74) he skippered the side that won promotion from the Fourth Division as runners-up to Peterborough United.
His one and only goal for the club came in April 1973 when he scored the second-half winner in a 2-1 victory over Colchester United here at Priestfield Stadium.
He began the 1974-75 season in the team but had made just eight appearances, taking his total to 76 for the Gills, prior to a move to Dartford in December 1974.
A short spell followed back in the Football League at Hartlepool United before moving to Crook Town.
Unfortunately in February 1981, at the age of just 36, Joe died of a heart attack at his Darlington home.

1971 - Lee Harrison
The goalkeeper played at a number of clubs on loan from Charlton Athletic, including the Gills.
He arrived at Priestfield in March 1992 but only appeared in the final two games of the season, making his debut at Chesterfield.
Since leaving the Valley he has had spells at Fulham, Barnet (twice making 363 appearances), Leyton Orient and Peterborough United.
During 2010-11 Lee was with Hayes & Yeading before being named assistant-manager at Newport County in May 2011 but was released when Justin Edinburgh took over the Welsh side five months later.
In August 2012 Harrison was named goalkeeping coach at Wycombe Wanderers and he was named on the bench for the game against Gillingham at Adams Park recently.

1986 - Akwasi Edusei
The young forward came through the ranks here at Priestfield and famously scored the goal for the youth team when they beat Liverpool in an FA Youth Cup 4th Round tie at Anfield.
He made his first-team debut while still a youth team member, replacing Paul Shaw in the 79th minute of a home game with Walsall in April 2003.
Akwasi made just eight appearances for the first-team before moving into non-league circles playing for a number of clubs and was most recently playing for Canvey Island Reserves.
