BIRTHS...

1902 - Charles Davis

The centre-half arrived at Priestfield in May 1924 and made his debut at Luton at the start of the following season but made a total of just seven appearances.

He later returned to his native North-East when joining West Stanley.
 

1962 - Mark Miller

The former Newcastle United apprentice cost £3,500 when he came to Gillingham from Whitley Bay in October 1981.

The nippy winger had to wait until the following February for his debut which came at Chester City.

After 16 months at the club, in which he made 10 appearances, he returned to Whitley Bay but did later play league football with both Doncaster Rovers and Darlington.

In 1985 he moved to Malta where he has enjoyed a successful career both as a player and coach at the likes of Rabat Ajax, Floriana, Sliema Wanderers and Hibernians as well as the Maltese youth and under-21 squads.

Mark is currently coaching at Valletta FC.
