LITERACY SKILLS WITH THE GILLS

Community department to launch new programme

This Friday sees the launch of a new literacy programme being delivered by the Gillingham FC Community Team in a Kent Secondary School.

Literacy Skills with the Gills is a new programme that will aim to encourage targeted groups of children to work on their reading and writing abilities in an exciting way.

The six week course will see the students working on football based tasks in the classroom, as well as taking part in coaching sessions with one of the GFC Community coaches.

Those students who work hard and show an enthusiasm towards the programme will also be rewarded in the sixth week with a visit to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, for a celebration of their work and a tour of the ground.

If you would like to know more about the Skills with the Gills programme, please contact Head of Community Adam Lawrence on alawrence@priestfield.com
